A solid solution strengthening grade, Alloy X has good strength and corrosion resistance in reducing carburising atmospheres.

Alloy X has excellent resistance to reducing and carburizing atmospheres, making it suitable for furnace components. Due to its high molybdenum content, Alloy X may be subject to catastrophic oxidation at 1204°C.
The alloy has good high temperature strength coupled with oxidation resistance up to 1093°C.
This Alloy is readily weldable using matching filler wires. After severe forming, fabrications may be annealed at 1177°C, 15 minutes per 1/8″ of thickness, rapid air cool.
